CONDITIONS marine wealth in Indonesia is still very large, because so far the only land resources "simply" a more dominant cultivated by the community. Along with growing conditions "thinning" of wealth in the land, the people should be looked at Indonesia's exploratory activities of marine resources.

WJS. Poerwadarminta, defines exploration as: investigation; assessments; exploration of parts of the world (continents, countries, regions) in order gain more knowledge about the situation or the resources there is (read: in the marine area).

From here, if we associate with the social situation of Indonesian society that collapsed today, then at least there are two underlying reasons why we have to do marine exploration. First, in terms of aqidah. Ie through this maritime activity, we can reap tangible evidence of the wisdom of the greatness and power of God over all life in nature, so we are always grateful. This can we feel when we are in the middle of the ocean / sea is vast.

In the Qur'an Allah says: "God made the ocean for you, to sail the ship on it by His command, and that ye may seek His bounty and hopefully good thank you." (Surat al - Jatsiyah: 12).

Second, the economic aspect. Through the exploration of marine activities, we can work on and explore a variety of resources that can be enjoyed by those who can use it in a good and wise. For that we have demands to be smart people to always explore the whole of nature has given him.

In this case, we have been reminded of God in Sura al-Nahl: 14, namely: "And He (Allah) who paved the sea, that ye may eat the flesh of her soft and you can opt out of her jewelry you can wear. You see the ships go to him so that you may seek His bounty and that ye may be grateful. "

The Indonesian people in predominately Muslim, this nation should become a developed nation in the field kebahrian. The reason, advance Muslims have been taught through the guidance of the Qur'an related to the problem kebaharian. In the Qur'an, if we carefully and learn it has a lot of talk about maritime. There are approximately 40 verses of the Qur'an that mention kebaharian problem. This fact indicates that such a large portion of God to the human impulse to take a big benefit, of course, in the context of strengthening the faith and explore the resources within it.

In his book, Dr.H.Hamzah Jacob (1985), implied by these maritime functions. First, as economic activity (read: QS. Al-Jatsiyah: 12 and An-Nahl: 14) and a sail that allows people to reach an area with ease and speed up his journey. Facts on the ground also showed there are many areas that is difficult to achieve with ground transportation, but it can easily be reached by sea transportation. In Al-Qur'an Surat Yunus, 22, revealed signs of this sea transportation facilities. Namely, "He who allows you to walk on land and at sea."

Second, as a fishing activity. Maritime sector, in addition to the shipping traffic, and also has the function of the major role in the field of fisheries. God has hinted in the verse. Al-Maidah: 96 associated with the wealth of this fish. "Allowed to hunt sea and sea food (fish) as a pleasure for you."

Third, the processing of pearls. In the ocean can also be found in the goods of high-value (as jewelry). "And from the sea that we remove the jewelry you wear." (Surat al-Fatir: 12).

Fourth, national defense sector. In terms of defense and state security, maritime sector is one of the factors and the absolute element, besides of course the air and ground defense. "Prepare to face them (the enemy) what you sanggupi from perbagai strength." (Surat al-Anfal: 60).

Fifth, the center of salt production. We know the substance of salt is one of the basic human needs. Based on research results known to the salty sea water contains salt 34.37% substance. In the Qur'an states: "And He (God) that limit the two oceans. This fresh and the other salty. God held between the two walls and a closed border. "(Surat al-Furqan: 53). It is very ironic for the Indonesian nation state that has two-thirds of the territory of the ocean, but in fact we are still importing salt from other countries?

Sixth, centers of study and research (Research). Among the many marine resources and Its Problems, some secrets we have seen and others not yet revealed. Thus, in the court of this thinking, we are required to conduct marine research. This is hinted at in verse. At-Tur: 6, "Watch full ocean wave." This is the tasks of each child to reveal the wealth of marine resources through increased marine science and technology.

Speaking in Indonesian maritime issues, will not separate from the existing water conditions in the countries of Southeast Asia. A source said that the waters of Southeast Asia region has the world's richest ecosystems. According to the International Center for Living Resources Management Water in Manila, Philippines, Southeast Asia has 30 percent of the world's coral reefs, mangrove forests 25 percent of the world and produces 10 percent of the fish in the world.

In this case, Sarwono Kusumaatmadja, says Indonesia is located in the vast sea of ekutorial with approximately 5.8 million km2, larger than the total land area of 1.9 million km2 or 75% of the entire territory of Indonesia, has a freshwater ecosystem is quite consisting of 5.886 broad rivers, 186 lakes and reservoirs, and approximately 33 million hectares of swamp.

If the biological resources, defined as the diversity of life on the level of genes, species, ecosystems and the eco-biological processes, then Indonesia is the second largest country after megabiodiversity Brazil. Meanwhile, in terms of marine biodiversity, Indonesia is the largest country in the world megabiodiversity. This can be understood, the article states all over Indonesia has a tropical marine ecosystems the most comprehensive in the world. Starting from mengrove forests, seagrass, seaweed until the coral reef.

Other data reveal that the number of hard coral species (stone) or a hard coral which live in the sea waters around Indonesia are 350 species. Meanwhile, soft corals (soft coral) amounted to 210 species, and about 350 species of gorgonians. Meanwhile, the Dutch expert (Blecker; 1859) suggests, the number of species of marine fish in Indonesia for more than 2000 species or 37 percent of the total world marine fish species.

Sea exploration activity, will have an impact on human life and the people who perform these activities. Ie as a pillar of one's faith. Positive effects of this most basic, if truly understood, then it would be an "oasis" in which will raise the human spirit for life. Through these marine exploration activities, for a Muslim to become an arena in building pillar (pole amplifier) faith of the creator (Read: QS. Ash-Shura: 32-34).

With a strong faith in someone, then it would be devastating to the quality of human life. According to M. IR Ridwan Lubis (1985), there are three effects of faith in human life, namely: (1) The power of thinking (quwatul idraak), (2) Physical Strength (quwatul jismi), and (3) Power of Spirit (quwatur ruuh).

While M. Yunan Nasution (1976), reveals the influence of faith on a man's life: faith, trust will diminish the power of objects, instill the spirit of courage to face death, instilling self-help in life, forming mental tranquility, and form a good life.

Indonesian nation should have a Muslim majority, being a prominent nation in the maritime industry. Because they (Islam) has the most marine suggestion from the teachings of the Qur'an. Instead of the seaman were to be strong in faith, because they had often witnessed the greatness and power of God in the ocean. And they should be classified as the most intelligent creatures grateful. Bishshawab A'lam Waallahu .***
